Dlr Mill Theatre Seachtain na Gaeilge: 9th – 13th March 2020

Seachtain na Gaeilge (Irish Language Week) is an international Irish language festival and one of the biggest celebrations of our native language and culture that takes place each year in Ireland and in many other countries.

Celtic Superhero Drama Workshops: (as Gaeilge nó as Bearla)

Seo tuiscint níos deimhne a thabhairt ar an nGaeilge trí shiúl a chaitheamh ar laochra na ngael ó stair is mhiotaseolaíocht na hÉireann. Sé aidhm na ceardlainne seo ná úsáid na teanga a chur chun chinn ar bhealaí éagsúla, le cúnamh sheanscéalta is siombailí na hÉireann. Ag díriú ar bhríomharacht, ar spraoi agus ar an nglór, forbraíonn an cheardlann seo muinín an duine in úsáid phraiticiúil na teanga  in éineacht le féinsamhlaiocht.  Ó Ghráinne Mhaol go Tír na nÓg, téimis ar thuras Gaelach le linn Sheachtain na Gaeilge.

An exploration of the Irish language using heroic figures from Irish heritage and mythology. Using the great stories and symbols from Ireland, this is a workshop aimed at integrating the use of our native language in an engaging way. Focusing on fun, physicality and voice, the workshop integrates confidence in practical use of the language alongside imaginative self-expression. From Gráinne Mhaol to Tír na nÓg, we take a gaelic adventure through Seachtain na Gaeilge.

Learn to Polka – Irish Music Workshops: Dabbledoo Music (as Gaeilge or as Bearla)

Le haghaidh Seachtain na Gaelige 2020, beidh DabbledooMusic ag tabhairt cuairte ar Amharchlann an

Mhuilleann Dún Droma chun sraith ceardlann a sheachadadh. Ag baint úsáide as ár nodaireacht ghrafach atá dathchódaithe agus beoite, beidh gach duine ag déanamh ceoil le chéile in am ar bith. Foghlaim faoin tséis le Jazz Cat, ag drumadóireacht le Igor The Octopus agus ag imirt in éineacht le polka Éireannach. Níl gá le haon eolas nó taithí ceoil roimhe seo. Oiriúnach do dhaoine aois 6-12.

For Seachtain na Gaelige 2020, DabbledooMusic will be visiting the Mill Theatre Dundrum to deliver a series of very special workshops. Using our colour-coded and animated graphic notation, participants will be making music together in no time at all. Learn about melody with Jazz Cat, drumming with Igor the Octopus and perform an Irish Polka. No previous musical experience or knowledge needed (although expect there to be ‘cúpla focal as Gaeilge’ used!). Suitable for children aged 6-12.

  • Date/Times: Mon 9th & Tues 12th Jan at 10am, 11.30am & 1pm in the Studio
  • Ticket Prices: €7.50

DabbledooMusic started back in 2011 with the mission to make music education more accessible, engaging and fun for teachers and students throughout Ireland. Using a system of colour-coded graphic notation, animated musical characters and examples of music from all over the world, music making in the classroom has never been more enjoyable. With a background in live music, performance, education and visual art, Shane, Killian and Chris are currently expanding the number of primary schools they work with across the country.
