Meet The Mavens
Meet The Mavens 🎊 Now in its fifth year, the Mavens is a female-centric, mentored playwright development programme facilitated by dlr Mill Theatre in partnership with the Writers Guild of Ireland and funded by the Arts Council. Guided by Programme Facilitator and Dramaturg, Pamela McQueen, the Mavens seeks to support, guide and upskill mid-career female playwrights. ✨Nessa Matthews is one of our incredible 2025-2026 Mavens ✨ Nessa Matthews is a performer, writer and director. Since graduating from LAMDA (dist.), she has worked regularly as an actor on stage and screen. Credits including: The Tourist (BBC/Netflix), Dawn of the Ick (An Pointe Productions), Mr. Burns (Rough Magic), Will I See You There? (Murmuration). As a writer, she is currently developing DOOMSCROLLER. It had it’s first work-in-progress in 2024 and the concept was recently shortlisted for RTÉ Storyland. Other plays include; INFINITY (Winner of Best Design and First Fortnight Awards at Dublin Fringe Festival 2018, First Fortnight Festival 2019, VAULT Festival 2019) and Way Beyond the Blue as part of a residency at Theatre Upstairs. As a director, credits include: Made From Paper (in association with Mermaid Arts Centre, recipient of the DTF Futures Fund) and Bunny Bunny. She is currently part of the NTA/GalPal Collective’s Writer’s Club.
