All My Friends Are In Australia

Created by Lucy Bruton and Caoimhe O’Farrell
Trudy’s stuck in Dublin. Her best friend’s down under. She’s not dead. She’s just on a working visa.

You are now entering a binding contract, a waiver of unwavering friendship, with Trudy (whether you like her or not). You will become Trudy’s half-marathon motivators, party plus-ones and quarter-life crisis comforters. Together, let’s enter Trudy’s vibrant, oddly personal, and, at times unsettling, hybrid yoga/spin-class meets karaoke-nightclub extravaganza…

With Irish emigration on the rise, many young people grapple with a dilemma: should you stay in the familiar or venture into the unknown? The internal conflict of choosing between the comfortable and new experiences weighs heavily on the minds of many. Ultimately, the play poses the question: what are the consequences of choosing either path? This show is not only colourful and hilarious but also a response to the lack of opportunity for young people, resulting in emigration.

All My Friends are in Australia is an immersive, interactive exploration of friendship, distance, and the challenges of staying or leaving Ireland as a young adult.
