Two One Act Plays: The Importance of Being Honest & Love in a Glass Jar

TWO ONE ACT PLAYS
The Importance of Being Honest by Billie Traynor
Set in 1913, twenty years after Oscar Wilde’s original play, we meet Gwendolen and Cecily once again as they grapple with questions of identity and purpose, facing the challenges brought by changing times, shifting relationships, and the realities of aging.
Over a cup of tea, followed by a glass of hock (or two) served by Cecily’s loyal, albeit now rather shaky butler Merriman, some unexpected revelations come to light!
A very entertaining and comic piece that shows us while the world around us may change, friendships can and do endure.
Love in a Glass Jar by Nancy Harris
A sharp, funny exploration of intimacy and connection in an age of choice.
In a boutique hotel room, the play brings together two strangers for what is meant to be a purely transactional encounter. Yet, as Eve and Patrick talk, the strict boundaries they have agreed upon begin to blur.
What begins as an awkward encounter slowly unravels into a deeply human confrontation. As the two talk, questions of independence, loneliness, masculinity, ageing and emotional entitlement surface.
The play balances acute social observation with humour and compassion. What emerges is not a love story, but a portrait of two people negotiating vulnerability when the old rules no longer apply.
